Staff and wire reports

— Authorities in southwest Missouri are continuing the search for a 12-year-old girl last seen getting into the car of a man now charged with her kidnapping.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Watson says crews continued searching Wednesday for Adriaunna M. Horton, who was reported missing from a Golden City park Monday.

The patrol says 34-year-old Bobby D. Bourne Jr., of Lockwood, is charged with kidnapping and jailed in Barton County on $1 million bond in the child's disappearance. Authorities say Bourne was found Tuesday in a vehicle that witnesses say had picked up the girl about 90 minutes earlier.

Adriaunna's father, Golden City resident James Horton, says Bourne once worked for him. Her grandfather, also named James Horton, said Wednesday the family remains optimistic she'll be found safe.

Adriaunna is described as white, 4 feet 5 inches tall and 70 pounds. She has short brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion.
