Human remains found earlier this year in rural Johnson County are those of an Olathe man reported missing in 2011, police said Friday.

Ryan A. Bradley, 23, was reported missing by his family in October 2011. Olathe police said they dedicated significant resources to finding Bradley, but leads diminished over time.

In March, the skeletal remains were found by hunters in a wooded area on private property near 215th Street and Gardner Road. Subsequent DNA testing linked the remains to Bradley, although a cause of death has not been determined, according to Olathe police.

Bradley’s mother, Adrienne Janego, said Friday that although he had been missing for so long, she had always hoped her son would come home.

“But now that we know he is dead, the police will be able to push the investigation and find out what happened,” she said.

Janego, who lives out of state, said that she had last talked to her son a few days before his disappearance and that he was looking forward to starting classes the following spring at Johnson County Community College.

“He left to go meet some friends, and nobody ever saw him again,” she said. “Somebody has to know something.”

The Johnson County sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to call 913-715-5560 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
