It doesnt take much to tie up rush-hour traffic in the Kansas City area.

An accident in one place blocking the free flow of vehicles will force a flood of cars and trucks to divert elsewhere. People got a good taste of that Friday morning when a shifting load on the hoofs of 70 to 80 cattle caused in a westbound truck to overturn on Interstate 70 at the Benton Avenue curve.
That backed up traffic for hours going into downtown but also prompted other vehicles to detour onto different interstates and city streets. In addition, police blocked entrances onto I-70, adding to motorists frustrations.
And if that wasnt bad enough, police and other authorities spent a lot of time trying to corral one wayward steer.
