A 25-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced to 50 years in prison Wednesday for robbing a Clay County undercover sheriff’s deputy.

Lance C. Butler was convicted June 4 of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action in the May 17, 2012, incident, which started when Butler arrived at parking lot at Northeast Vivion Road and and North Antioch Road to conduct a drug deal.

“He instead stuck a gun in a lady’s face, and robbed her,” said Clay County Prosecutor Daniel White.

It turned out, the victim was an undercover deputy working for the Clay County Drug Squad.
