A former church youth director pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to transporting a minor across state lines for illegal sex, and receiving child porn over the Internet.

Dennis W. Myers, 53, admitted that he had illegal sex with a 16-year-old girl in the 1990s and took her to Missouri from Springdale, Ark., where he had served as youth director at a Methodist church.

Myers also once served as youth director at a church in Independence.

After reports from two adolescents of inappropriate sexual activity, officers in Blue Springs searched Myers’ home in 2011 and seized his computer, on which they found a child porn video.

Myers agreed in his plea bargain to plead guilty to Jackson County charges of statutory sodomy and attempted enticement of a child.
