This weekend might not be a good one for outside chores.
A stormy weather pattern beginning Friday is expected bring multiple chances for rain across the Kansas City region through early next week, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo.
The storms could bring several inches of rain to some areas, especially west and south of Kansas City.
Showers and thunderstorms moved across the area Friday morning. While heavy rainfall was possible to the south and southwest of Kansas City, only a 1/4- to 1/2-inch of rain was expected to fall on most areas, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers and thunderstorms could redevelop Friday afternoon, bringing a slight risk of severe storms. The major threat from those storms would be large hail and damaging wind, as well as heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.
There will be break from rain for most of Saturday, but a new storm system coming from the Rockies is expected to bring several rounds of thunderstorms Sunday through Thursday.
Heavy rain and flooding will be possible with some of the storms
