UG administrator Dennis Hays to retire

Updated: 2013-08-02T01:06:44Z

Dennis Hays, county administrator of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., announced Thursday he will retire.

Mayor Mark Holland said an executive search firm will be employed to find Hays’ successor. Hays will remain in the job until his replacement is named next spring. Holland will appoint the next administrator with the consent of the county commission.

“Our community has witnessed incredible progress in the last 16 years under Dennis’ management,” Holland said in a statement issued by the UG. “During his tenure we consolidated our government and experienced significant expansion to our economic development base, despite a recession.”
