A Southwest Airlines flight headed for Indianapolis with 54 people aboard was forced to return to Kansas City International Airport for an emergency landing Tuesday night.

Flight 1810 left Kansas City at 9:20 p.m. but developed a problem with the flaps on the front of its wings. It returned and landed safely, said city aviation spokesman Joe McBride.
