Two KC homicide victims identified

Kansas City Police on Sunday identified the victims of two apparent homicides that occurred early Saturday morning.

Vital Osbalda of Kansas City, who would have turned 36 years old today, was killed by a gunshot wound on Saturday, the day before his birthday, from a gunshot wound. At 10:46 a.m., police were dispatched to the 3800 block of 9th Street on a reported shooting. Osbaldo was found lying next to a truck. He was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.

In a separate incident, police found Richard Preston, age 24, from Kansas City found dead in the front seat of a vehicle after chasing it to Research Medical Center. At about 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 8600 block of Troost Avenue. While en route, police saw a vehicle fleeing the scene at high speed. They pursued the vehicle to Research. Preston was found inside the car.

Police reported having no suspect in the crime by Sunday afternoon. Anyone with information on either crime is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474 8477.
