Updated: 2013-07-17T13:28:58Z

The Missouri Highway Patrol announced it will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Smithville Lake before the end of July.

Troopers will stop watercraft at a set location on the lake and test boat operators to determine if they are boating while under the influence.

The date of the checkpoint was not released, except that it will take place by the end of July.
