How do you not buy a lottery ticket after that?

Indians fan Greg Van Niel hauled in four, count ‘em four, foul balls during the Royals’ game Sunday in Cleveland.

Van Niel (who had a glove) was so happy he even tossed one of the balls away to another group of fans.

ESPN’s Stats and Information calculated that the odds are one in a thousand to nab one foul ball at a game. After crunching the numbers, it was calculated that four foul balls was a one in a trillion chance.

That’s a lot of zeros as in 1 in 1,000,000,000,000. Whew.

The TribeVibe blog (tribevibe.mlblogs.com) caught up with Van Niel.

“Three of them were catches and one was a ball I picked up off the ground,” Van Niel told the blog. “The third one I think was the hardest one — I think I ended up sprawled across a few rows, and I got some cheese on myself. But the other ones were just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.”
