One man died in a driveway shooting Sunday afternoon near Lamar Avenue and West 94th Terrace, Overland Park police said.
Police identified the victim as Raymon K. Thomas, in his thirties, who relatives said was living on the block.
Police said two men drove onto the block just west of Lamar. One man got out of their car as the victim was walking toward a car in the driveway. He was shot several times. Neighbors said they heard about 12 shots fired.
The suspects were last seen driving west on 94th Terrace.
“Obviously, it was a targeted shooting,” said Gary Mason of Overland Park police. “We knew that right away.”
Mason said witnesses described the suspects as heavy-set men; the alleged gunman’s head was bald or shaved. The suspects were in a red or maroon late-model Ford sedan with Missouri license plates, witnesses said.
An aunt, Ella Thomas of Kansas City, said the victim was the father of three and had been working as a real estate agent.
