Independence police name fatal shooting victim

Independence police on Friday identified the man killed Tuesday evening as Bryan Arreola, 20.

Arreola had been shot, police said.

Authorities responding to a 6:40 p.m. shooting call near the intersection of College Street and Crysler Avenue discovered Arreola along with a car that had struck a utility pole and two residences. Arreola was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Friday, police said Arreola had been shot following a physical altercation just east of the intersection. Authorities questioned and released two individuals following the incident, and the investigation is continuing.
