Updated: 2013-07-13T00:18:13Z

A gunman ambushed a man waiting to get a haircut outside of a barber shop Friday afternoon in the 4300 block of Indiana Avenue, leaving the victim with critical injuries.

The victim, in his 20s, had gone into the shop to request a haircut, then returned to his vehicle to wait his turn, said police Capt. Tye Grant.

As he sat in his vehicle about 1:50 p.m., the gunman came from behind the barber shop, fired repeatedly at the victim and ran away, Grant said. The victim stumbled back into the shop to get help.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he underwent surgery.
