Updated: 2013-07-12T16:32:43Z

Authorities on Friday identified two North Carolina residents as the individuals found dead in a Bonner Springs hotel room Thursday.

Lacie Martinez and Michael James were both were in their 20s, said Lt. George Collins of the Bonner Springs police.

“They were traveling from North Carolina to Seattle, we think,” Collins said.

Investigators were continuing to speak with family members, said Collins. Though investigators believe the incident may have been a murder-suicide, they will await autopsy results before drawing any conclusions, he added. Autopsies were scheduled to be performed today, he said.

A maid found the bodies inside one of the rooms Thursday at the Holiday Inn Express near Interstate 70 and Kansas Highway 7.
