Kansas City area residents survived another July 4 holiday. Whew!
It’s never easy with so many people setting off fireworks they’d purchased at roadside stands. And it’s no wonder.
Kansas City ranks No. 2 among large metropolitan markets for fireworks in the United States, says SizeUp, a business intelligence website. The Kansas City Star reports that only people in San Antonio spend more to blow things up on the Fourth of July.
The Kansas City area generated $625 million to $650 million in total annual revenue, SizeUp says. In addition to San Antonio and Kansas City, the top five fireworks towns were Miami, Chicago and Dallas.
The next time you take out the hose on July 4 to wet down the roof to prevent accidental fires, know that you are doing the right thing. Heavy fireworks use increases the likelihood of roofs catching fire.
