Arson charge filed in Shawnee fire

Authorities accused a 19-year-old man Tuesday of setting a fire that damaged a Shawnee apartment building Monday.

Johnson County prosecutors charged Derek Gregory Estopare with a felony count of aggravated arson with the risk of great bodily harm. A judge set his bond at $100,000.

The fire was reported Monday morning at the Carlyle Apartments near 75th Street and Quivira Road where Estopare lived. No injuries were reported.
