Sporting Kansas City and defender Yann Songo’o, who has spent the season on loan with Orlando City SC, mutually agreed Friday to terminate his contract.

Sango’o, 21, whom Sporting KC inked as a discovery signing in December, is returning to play in Spain. He was born in France, but played internationally at the youth level for Cameroon.

With the Lions, Sporting KC’s first-year USL Pro affiliate, Songo’o logged a team-high 1,030 minutes in 12 games. He also scored a goal April 19 against the Los Angeles Blues.

After recalling forward Dom Dwyer, who set a single-season USL Pro record with 15 goals in only 13 games, from his loan Thursday, only two Sporting KC players — goalkeeper Jon Kempin and midfielder Christian Duke — remain with Orlando City.

The loan agreement calls for Sporting KC to place four players with the Lions, but manager Peter Vermes indicated at Friday’s press conference that he doesn’t expect a decision on who will be sent to Orlando until next week.
