We don’t dare say that the First Lady is late to the party. But, yeah, she kind of is.

Michelle Obama just sent out her very first photo on Instagram.

Better late than never.

The first lady has two photos and a video posted so far. Her first photo shows her and daughter Malia with a group of students at a middle school in Dakar.

Says the caption: “My first instagram! So inspired and so impressed by these extraordinary young women. – mo #FLOTUSinAfrica”

(We love the “mo” signature. That’s how she lets people know that she’s posting herself.)

A second photo shows Obama speaking to the classroom of young women, with this caption: “You all are role models for my daughters, which is why I brought them here today – so that they could be inspired by you just like I am. – First Lady Michelle Obama at MLK Middle School in Dakar. #FLOTUSinAfrica.”

The video shows students dancing for the first lady during a welcoming ceremony.

Now that the first family has joined Instagram, can we make a special request?

Give Bo Obama his own account, too.
