A 30-year-old woman told police a semitruck driver abducted, choked, beat and raped her in his truck cab early Wednesday in Kansas City.
Police arrested the driver and rescued the woman after her sister followed the truck and alerted police, according to court records filed Wednesday.
After his arrest, the trucker contended the incident started with him paying the woman for sex but ended with him doing things the woman had not consented to, according to court records.
Jackson County prosecutors charged LaAnthony O. Jones, 42, of West Bloomfield, Mich., with rape and felonious restraint.
According to court records, the woman and her sister were walking along Independence Avenue near Wabash when Jones stopped and asked for a light. After the woman got into his cab, he began to drive off. She told him to stop, but he ordered her into the back of the cab. He later attacked her physically, forcibly removed her clothes, bound her hands with duct tape and blindfolded her. After driving some more, he allegedly pulled over and raped her.
After Jones saw the woman’s sister arrive outside his truck, the woman began to scream. Jones took off and drove onto the highway but decided to pull over after seeing police shortly before 2 a.m.
“He said he knows what he did was wrong,” the court records said. “When he got on the highway, he observed the police and decided to pull over to face his punishment.”
