Don’t like your Jackson County property assessment? Here’s what to do

Amid an outcry over erroneous property assessments, Jackson County is extending the hours of its phone bank where property owners can call to file an informal appeal of their 2013 real estate property values.

Through July 22, the deadline for filing informal appeals, the phone bank will operate from 8 a.m. to to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. On Fridays, it will operate during its normal hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To file an informal appeal, call 816-881-4601 or go to www.jacksongov.org/appeal.

The deadline to file an appeal with the Jackson County Board of Equalization also has been extended, to July 29. Call 816-881-3309 for more information.
