Prosecutors accuse man of first-degree murder in KC stabbing

Updated: 2013-06-24T02:25:02Z

Shortly after Darrell Aderholt, 42, was stabbed to death inside his Kansas City home Saturday night, police arrested Travys A. Porter, 25, who had blood on his clothes, a cut on his hand and a knife in his pocket, according to court records.

Jackson County prosecutors on Sunday charged Porter with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is accused of knocking at Aderholt’s home near 12th Street and Ewing Avenue, and attacking Aderholt. A woman inside the home said Aderholt told her to go to a back room when he realized Porter was at the door.

Homicide Sgt. Martin Cobbinah said police had not determined a motive. He said Porter was dating Aderholt’s ex-girlfriend, but Porter declined to talk to detectives.
