But hes a bit under the weather right now, feeling the effects of a bout with shingles and a reaction to some medication.
Dawson, one of three (along with Frank Gifford and Dan Dierdorf) to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as both a player and as a broadcaster, is hopeful of being able to attend the Hall of Fames 50th anniversary celebration on Aug. 3 when teammate Curley Culp is inducted. Dawson is from Alliance, Ohio, right down the street from the Hall of Fame in Canton.
But if hes still not up to that trip, he promises to be in the radio booth for the Chiefs preseason opener at New Orleans on Aug. 9.
Those wishing to send Dawson a Happy Birthday or Get Well Soon note can do so in care of KMBC-TV Channel 9, 6455 Winchester Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 64133, and Im sure they can get the messages to him.
