New place to search
The Missouri treasurer’s office has taken another step to find the legal owners of more than $750 million in unclaimed property.
The treasurer has installed a kiosk at a state revenue office at 6138 Raytown Trafficway in Raytown that will help people search for unclaimed property and start the claims process.
Since 2009, the treasurer’s office has returned about $155 million that was held in more than 500,000 accounts, including a $6.1 million claim to a woman in the Kansas City area. The property includes cash in bank accounts, stocks, bonds and contents of safe deposit boxes that have been abandoned.
The kiosk has step-by-step instructions for searching for and claiming property. More than 50 percent of claims can be filed online, the state said. There is also an unclaimed property kiosk in O’Fallon, Mo.
Health clinics sold
U.S. HealthWorks, which operates occupational health care and urgent care centers, has purchased seven clinics and two work site locations in the Kansas City area.
The locations were acquired from OHS-Compare clinics. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
U.S. HealthWorks said the locations are its first in Kansas and Missouri. The company, a subsidiary of Dignity Health, now operates 201 centers and work sites in 19 states.
