The Pie Five Pizza Co. — which sells individual pizzas made to order and cooked in five minutes — has picked a place for its first area location.

Pie Five plans to open later this summer at 13366 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park.

Customers can select from a variety of choices in crust, sauce, cheese, greens, meats and vegetables. Pie Five also has several 9-inch specialty pizzas, including chicken carbonara, barbecue pulled pork, vegetarian and the Athenian. It also serves salads.

Dave Goebel, former president and chief executive officer of Applebee's, signed a 10-unit franchise agreement with Pie Five with two of his triplet sons, Kerry and Kevin.

iEats, a Pan Asian restaurant, and Izumi Japanese Steak & Sushi had formerly operated in the spot.
