Kansas Democrat asks if SCOTUS ruling on Arizona law applies in Kansas

Democratic state Sen. Anthony Hensley of Topeka wants to know for sure if Kansas election law requiring citizenship proof from people registering to vote for the first time is still legal.

The Supreme Court threw out a similar law Monday.

Hensley has written Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt, asking for his views on the ruling and the state law.

The law requires photo ID from voters. That part isn’t affected by the SCOTUS decision.
