Rep. Kevin Yoder has offered a bill further defining the limits of the government’s access to emails. It’s called the Email Privacy Act, H.R. 1852.

Here’s a column on the proposal.

In general, the bill would extend privacy protections to emails, requiring a warrant before the government could examine the content of your emails.

Metadata could still be requested from third parties without notice to the emailer.

It isn’t clear when the measure might be heard in committee.
