Kansas junior defensive lineman Chris Martin, who was arrested May 29 in connection with an armed robbery in Lawrence, has been dismissed from the Jayhawks football team.

“Due to recent incidents Chris Martin was involved with, he was given a list of stipulations he was required to meet for him to remain a member of the Kansas Football team,” KU coach Charlie Weis said in a statement. “Because he did not follow some of those stipulations we have dismissed him from the team.”

Martin, who posted $35,000 bond, has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 24.

A junior college transfer from City College of San Francisco, Martin arrived in Lawrence this spring as a centerpiece in Weis’ second recruiting class at Kansas. A former five-star recruit, Martin originally committed to Cal before transferring to Florida.
