Two Missouri ballot measures are approved for circulation

Updated: 2013-06-13T02:24:23Z

— Supporters of two proposed amendments to the Missouri Constitution can begin collecting signatures to get the measures on a statewide ballot next year.

The secretary of state's office said Wednesday that the petitions met state standards. The proposals would:

• Cap campaign donations to candidates for statewide office or the legislature at $2,600. The state repealed its limits in 2008.

• Repeal Missouri’s ban on using state or local funds for religious purposes or to support schools and colleges controlled by religious organizations.

Both are backed by the Missouri Roundtable for Life.
