Updated: 2013-06-07T19:38:45Z

After five days of searching, crews Friday found the body of a Kingsville, Mo., teenager who hadn’t been seen since he and two friends bailed from a sinking boat Sunday while exploring flood waters in Johnson County, Mo.

Brian VanMeter, 18, and the two others went into Big Creek about 10 miles east of Harrisonville.

Their boat hit something and began to take on water. The two survivors told authorities that VanMeter tried to hang on to a limb but had to let go and they never saw him again.
