The company, whose clients include mortgage lenders, investors and government agencies, said the expansion is being fueled by growth in its foreclosure claims processing business. The new jobs will be mainly claims processing positions, both full time and part time, said Erika Larson, Elm’s president and chief executive officer.
“We’ve been experiencing significant growth in this business,” Larson said.
Though the nation’s mortgage crisis has ended and the housing industry has rebounded, Larson said there is still “quite a bit of foreclosure claims activity in the pipeline.”
Larson founded Elm in 2009, and the company was recently certified as a minority women-owned firm. It has about 40 employees nationwide, including 30 here.
The firm recently quadrupled its space by moving from a building on College Boulevard to about 15,000 square feet at 10801 Mastin Blvd. in the Corporate Woods office park.
The company valued its expansion investment, including office space, employee training and equipment, at nearly $850,000. The state of Kansas is providing several grants to help offset those costs.
Overland Park is the “perfect centralized location to expand and grow our business,” Larson said. “Even though our physical location is in Kansas, our market is nationwide.”
Besides foreclosure claims, the company has diversified its mortgage-related services to include consulting and training, credit risk management, due diligence and technology solutions.
