Nixon decision on tax cut bill expected Wednesday

Updated: 2013-06-04T19:50:00Z

Gov. Jay Nixon’s office says he’ll be in KC Wednesday morning to “discuss his action” on the big tax cut bill passed by the General Assembly this spring.

Nixon has criticized a drafting error which he says will result in new taxes on prescription drugs in the state. Other than that, we don’t know for sure if he’ll veto the bill, which broadly reduced the state’s income tax, and makes other changes.

Republicans have said the bill was designed, in part, to compete with tax cuts in Kansas.

Nixon’s public announcement of an appearance to discuss his decision on the bill generally suggests a veto, but we’ll see.
