The World War II generation continues to recede from memory.

From former Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan.:

“Frank was a great American success story. He served with distinction in World War II, attended college under the GI bill, then founded an innovative and highly successful business...

“Frank’s death also marks the end of an era as he was the last World War II veteran serving in the Senate.”

From Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.:

“His public service spanned eight decades, during which he made a positive difference in the lives of countless Americans.”
