Call it build-a- beer.

The new Brew Lab in downtown Overland Park will sell supplies and equipment for brewing beer at home.

But for those who don’t have the space or the expertise, it also will have brewing stations set up on-site so customers can make their beer at Brew Lab with professionals to help guide them.

“People who enjoy home brewing can step up it up a notch. Or for people who are new to it and want a little extra instruction,” said Clay Johnston, a partner in the business with Kevin Combs, Justin Waters and Matthew Hornung.

Brew Lab plans to open in mid-July at 8004 Foster St.

In other downtown Overland Park news:

Smallcakes A Cupcakery, a specialty cupcake shop, has opened at 7303 W. 80th St. There also are several other Smallcakes in the metro, as well as in other parts of Kansas and Missouri, California, Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas.
