Bill Arnold, who writes a weekly baseball column called Beyond The Box score, had an interesting item on pitchers with the most strikeouts with a called third strike.

Royals pitcher James Shields is tied for second in the American League (with his close friend David Price of the Rays and two others). Here’s the list for all of baseball:

1. Clay Buchholz, Red Sox, 37

2. A.J. Burnett, Pirates, 25

2. Shelby Miller, Cardinals, 25

4. Cliff Lee, Phillies, 22

5. Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers, 21

5. Hyun-Jin Ryu, Dodgers, 21

7. James Shields, Royals, 20

7. Adam Wainwright, Cardinals 20

7. David Price, Rays, 20

7. Jake Peavy, White Sox, 20

7. Jon Lester, Red Sox, 20
