Holiday off gives IRS break from scandal

Updated: 2013-05-25T23:01:07Z

Being closed for the Memorial Day holiday, has to make people at the Internal Revenue Service feel like a beat up prize fighter as the bell rings saving them from going down.

The IRS has taken a lot of hits over the brewing scandal in which it targeted tea party groups for the special attention that no one wants from tax examiners. The tempest is far from over.

But the holiday weekend will give IRS workers a chance to relax and enjoy themselves without worry over news media and political scrutiny. The return to work next week will be like the bell ringing again to signal the start of another round.
