Sobriety checkpoint planned in Kansas City this weekend

Updated: 2013-05-23T12:49:45Z

Kansas City police announced they plan to run a sobriety checkpoint this weekend.

Police said they would operate the checkpoint sometime Friday through Sunday at an area known for alcohol-related crashes and arrests.

Signs alerting motorists will be placed before the checkpoint. Officers will direct motorists to an area where it can be determined whether they should be delayed longer.

Drivers showing signs of being impaired will be asked to undergo further testing. Those suspected of driving drunk will be arrested.
