Turns out that President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, knew about the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups.

But McDonough reportedly did not tell Obama what he knew.

In fact, the White House has said Obama did not learn about the situation until he saw news reports about it on TV.

Here’s the latest timeline info, as reported by The Washington Post:

The old story: Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler learns about the final results of the investigation during the week of April 22.

The new story: On Monday, White House spokesman Jay Carney said a member of Ruemmler’s staff learned of the probe the week of April 16, Ruemmler learned of it on April 24th and after that point she informed the chief of staff and other aides about the probe’s findings.
