More than three years after it closed, Westport mainstay The Corner Restaurant has been resurrected in the same spot but with new owners, a new decor and new menu.

Executive chef Natasha Sears said the kitchen uses many local vendors, and makes about 90 percent of the menu from scratch on-site.
Comfort food made how it is supposed to be made, Sears said. My hope is that when people come in here they have that sense of nostalgia.
Sears said the two most popular menu items are the biscuits and gravy and the Corner Burger (with lean beef, tumbleweed onions - also known as battered onions - bacon jam, and Boursin cheese on toasted challah), along with the loaded grits (white hominy grits, one sunny side up egg, peppered bacon lardons, sauteed portabella, caramelized onions, scallions, grana padano and butter). Theres also the grilled chicken sandwich (grilled portabella, thick sliced tomato, arugula, caramelized onions, provolone and garlic aioli on a toasted mushroom Swiss loaf).
Also the German chocolate pancakes but they are a little rich, Sears said. You have to have a sweet tooth.
Other menu items include chicken and waffles, green eggs and ham, Benedicts, salads and the Scramble-Fuls such as the East Coaster (scrambled eggs with lox, olive tapenade, cream cheese and scallions) all served with a side of hash browns or house potatoes and toast. Drinks include French press coffee, beer and wine.
Owners Michael Pfeifer and Dawn Slaughter have spent their careers in the restaurant industry.
They spent several months remodeling the restaurant at 4059 Broadway. They call the decor industrial farmhouse with some exposed brick walls, some painted warm autumn plums and pumpkin, along with lots of wood and a few pieces of aged corrugated metal. The front area has two dining areas with the bar in back.
A chalkboard sign in the upper room has the dictionary description for patience as the restaurant tries to accommodate the long lines that are once again stretching down the sidewalk, especially for weekend breakfast.
The Corner Restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Outdoor seating is planned for warmer weather. The restaurant plans to add evening hours starting May 29.
