Updated: 2013-05-18T01:57:18Z

The documentary film “Body of War” will be screened at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Alamo Drafthouse Mainstreet in Kansas City to celebrate the life of paralyzed Kansas City veteran Tomas Young.

The cinema’s website says musician Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman will perform and Phil Donahue, who co-directed the 2007 film, will introduce it. Young, who was injured in the Iraq war, is also expected to attend, according to Alamo.

Young became an activist against the Iraq war after retuning home and this spring posted an open letter to former President George W. Bush on the website truthdig.com Young earlier this year announced his intention to soon end his life by refusing nourishment because he is tired of fighting the ravages of his body that resulted from his war injury.

Tickets to the event are $20 and can be purchased from Alamo Drafthouse online. No children under 6 allowed.
