The victim was loading groceries into her vehicle in a parking lot in the 4000 block of Mill Street about 9:45 p.m. when the man knocked her facedown on the pavement. He fled with her purse in a red Ford Taurus.
When officers arrived, they found the victim crying and bleeding from her mouth.
After police spotted the car near 31st Street and Jackson Avenue, the driver rammed the vehicle into a patrol car. Officers then chased the car to the 2400 block of Jackson, where it ran up on a curb, hit a bus sign and stopped in a yard. The 45-year-old driver tried to run but was caught by officers, who found the victim’s cellphone in his front pocket.
