I-35 crash in Johnson County causes major delays for commuters headed downtown

Updated: 2013-05-17T13:00:43Z

A crash involving multiple vehicles on northbound Interstate 35 created major delays for commuters headed from Johnson County into downtown Kansas City.

The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Friday. The extent of any injuries were not immediately available.

The crash at one time closed three of the left lanes of northbound I-35 in that area. That quickly caused traffic to back up all the way to the Overland Parkway.

For a time being, traffic closest to the crash was inching along at 4 mph, according to speed detectors in the pavement as part of the Kansas City Scout system.
