Raytown police shot at two men in a vehicle after the driver tried allegedly to run over an officer investigating a theft in progress.

Police said they are looking for the men, who fled on foot late Monday after the vehicle crashed.

Officers responded to a reported theft in progress about 11 p.m. Monday in the 5400 block of Blue Ridge Cutoff.

As the officer approached the suspect’s vehicle, the driver sped off and tried to strike the officer, police said.

Police fire shots at the vehicle, but they don’t believe anyone was struck.

The vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Sni-A-Bar Road and Blue Ridge Cutoff and the men ran away.
