The Chiefs have hired Chris Ballard as their new director of player personnel. Ballard will lead the Chiefs’ pro and college scouting efforts.

Ballard spent the last year as the director of college scouting for the Chicago Bears. He had been with the Bears for 12 years as a scout.

The Chiefs’ scouting staff had been depleted. College scouting director Phil Emery left last year to become general manager of the Bears. Pro personnel director Ray Farmer left recently for a job with the Cleveland Browns.
