Clinton County prosecutor steps down

Updated: 2013-05-05T02:00:59Z

— Clinton County’s prosecuting attorney says he is resigning because of tight funding and an increased caseload that makes the $52,000-a-year job anything but the part-time gig it’s supposed to be.

Bill Burris has served since 2006. His resignation takes effect June 28, The St. Joseph News-Press reported. He blamed an increase in felony complaints, and the time it takes to prosecute them, for making it impossible to run his own practice and serve as prosecutor.
