Groundbreaking set for eastern Jackson County clinic

A May 8 groundbreaking is set for a new Truman Medical Center Lakewood clinic at 607 S. Ash in western Independence. The $2.4 million, 8,000-square-foot Fairmount Family Medical Care building is planned to open in mid 2014, replacing a temporary clinic. The clinic will provide acute and some specialty care, including newborn, pediatric, wellness education, chronic disease management and older-adult services. Outpatient behavioral and mental health services also will be available, planners said.
