Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback on Wednesday announced the appointment of Kansas City attorney Aaron Roberts to the 29th Judicial District.

The district covers Wyandotte County.

Roberts will take the seat of retiring Judge Ernest Johnson, who happens to be the husband of former Unified Government Mayor Carol Marinovich.

Roberts is a Municipal Court hudge for Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in political science and his law degree from the University of Kansas.

“Aaron’s experience as a municipal court judge and years of public service will serve Kansans of the 29th Judicial District well,” Brownback said.

District courts serve as the trial courts for the state, overseeing all civil and criminal cases.
