Truman Med Centers CEO wins award for IT achievement

Updated: 2013-06-16T22:25:13Z

John Bluford, chief executive officer of Truman Medical Centers, is one of two national winners of Modern Healthcare magazine’s 2013 CEO IT Achievement Awards.

Narendra Kini, CEO of Miami Children’s Hospital, also won the award, which is co-sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

The award recognizes health care executives who show commitment and leadership to their IT programs.

Bluford was cited as an “exceptional leader who has used an aggressive IT strategy to transform Truman Medical Centers.”

Truman uses its IT system to track performance and get measurable results from electronic health records, the awards’ judges said.

The two winners will have stories about them in the June 3 issue of Modern Healthcare and will be honored Sept. 18 at a dinner in Washington.
