KC wants streetcar opponents to post $20 million bond in their appeal

Updated: 2013-04-29T20:49:09Z

Lawyers for Kansas City’s streetcar project filed a motion Monday urging a swift resolution to a challenge to the downtown streetcar taxes.

Two downtown property owners last week appealed a judge’s dismissal of their lawsuit against the streetcar taxes.

Now the streetcar project’s lawyers say a critical financing deadline can’t be met while that appeal is pending. They are asking the appeals court for a swift hearing and to require the plaintiffs to post a $20 million bond that provides security against financial damage if the project is delayed.
