Big loss for GOP on traffic controllers

So much for all the tough talk from GOP lawmakers about sequestration, making tough budget choices, etc.

The supposed deficit hawks knuckled under Friday and approved a bill to fully fund the air traffic control system.

Sure, the furloughs approved in recent weeks had caused flight delays, irritating fliers (including some members of Congress).

But aren’t Republicans always saying there’s fat to cut in the U.S. budget?

Apparently, it’s not in the field of air controllers.

Maybe now the GOP and the rest of Congress will realize that $85 billion in across-the-board reductions aren’t the right way to reduce the deficit.

Or, maybe not.
